New Job, New Year, New Man

Today has been my first week at Reality Mine as a Senior Server Engineer.

All good so far.

Last night was badminton night. Great games getting better but I need to move to the next level. See if I can make the step up. Plenty of practice is needed.

Kids are now aged 5 and 7. Wow time is flying past. Anyways lets see how this year progresses. Really happy with my lot, I can't complain.

Well what can I say the last 8 months have been some of the most important months in my life. So much has happened and where do I start ....

It has been a dream year in terms of achievements and moving on to the next chapter in my life.

The achievements are as follows:

Moving Jobs (although sad to leave micro direct)
Kids growing up fast and becoming full time at school
Misses Passing her driving test
and the biggest and best is having my new house after 5 years living with my
sister and mum.

Its been a great weight of my shoulders and its been crucial for inter personal developments between me and the misses.

As they say in punjabi and urdu .... sakoon milgiaa .........

I know this is a new chapter and there are many many more trials and tribulations in the future .... but for now I will be savouring the moment and focussing on the next milestones in my life .... insha allah I know what they are best keep them to my self

Bicycle Crash

What a Week its been.

I Caused a bicycle crash this week. Fortunately the girl (Emma) is OK. I have offered to pay for the damage to the bike. Just Glad she dont do a Personal Injury Claim.

I Went Snooker last night won easily 3-0 with a 32 break (not bad). I feel my came is getting stronger. I hit another Century break 101 on the weekend.

Work Wise still working on the new design. Its 95% there in terms of functionality.

Snooker Century

I finally reached the holy grail in snooker. Well not quite a 147. I hit a 118 Century Line up @ Rileys (Chorlton) in January. Really pleased with the technical changes I been making to my game.

If I was an author or a media guy I would produce a book or streaming video on Snooker and call it ANATOMY OF A SNOOKER BREAK. All the practice has not gone to waste I hit a 50 plus break in a match a few weeks back. I been reading Eddie Charltons take on how to play snooker. Most people wont know who he is but I remember Steady Eddy from my childhood/early teenage days. I had the book in the mid-eighties so I am really really pleased to have it in my possession after all these years

As well as all the breaks I am learning how to re-tip my cue .... the glue is setting on the tip/cue as I type.

Other stuff .... last 7 weeks me and my son (Umar) been going to Manchester United Training Ground In Carrington for some swimming physio. Its so much fun going and Umar has made some fantastic progress in the swimming department. I will be hopefully continuing with this as father and son. Its really really good that me and him spend this quality time together. After swimming we normally go for a Maccy D's (Macdonalds)

As well as the swimming we have also started Hydrotherapy which is also benefical for him and me.

ASP.NET MVC, AJAX, JQUERY

I have been doing a lot of good stuff with the following technologiementioned in the title.

I wanted to be able to focus on integrating a lot of the fancier stuff that people like to see

on website these days. I created a little demo project for cool AJAX stuff to reside. A repository for me to look at or enhance whenever I need to.

You can never remember everything in the web development world. Its good to build you own set of libraries and tools for referral whenever you need them for commercial projects. I have now achieved the following.

1. Login form using Jquery (slimbox) with AJAX

2. Add To Basket using Jquery with AJAX

3. Drop down list using Jquery with AJAX

4. Returning XML or JSON using AJAX/REST

The Two Images below show the Add to basket and Login form ajaxified. A special mention should go to the original URL (Add To Basket (Ajax)) which is written in php and Jquery. I have

used the css and images from this site and have ammended / enhanced the javascript accordingly to work with MVC Controllers.

Socially: Still Chilling with Zubair We went snooker the other day. His game has improved dramatically and is becoming a real threat. Its great playing each other and helping each other to improve our games.

Anyways I knocked in a 38 break on this occasion and narrowly beat him 2 frames to 1. Just bought a PVR (Humax) should get it before Xmas. Other Stuff will be heading to Glasgow this weekend to see my mother inlaw and family should be good fun.

David Gray - New day @ Midnight

I been listeningl to the following David Gray Album.

Not listened to it for 5 years or more I will forever associate david gray with me getting married in 2002. reminds me of having no money, no washing machine, no furniture and no TV. living in a rented accommodation just me and the misses with her stereo player and my shisha.

Somehow less can be more. Simpler times, easier times.

five years have come and gone and its now packed with the two munchkins taking over the habitat.

Umar & Aisha - The munchkins

December 2009

I am at work. Just been chatting to the Director (who is in pakistan) .... its all good. Christmas is upon us and its getting busier. Still Looking into the Ajax stuff for MVC Website.

Yesterday was physio day. Took Umar to Pictor School. Had a good session. Aisha and the misses did not attend. Its good to spend time with Umar alone.

So the munchkins have only one more week left of school and then they are flying up to glasgow..... actually I will be taking them. thats it for now.
